Academic Olympics

Synopsis:
An annual event which promotes the academic achievement of Lindsay Heights elementary students by motivating and challenging them in core content areas, forging positive behaviors and attitudes towards learning, and increasing community involvement in their achievement. In the past, students have competed in math alone. For the 2013 event, the core content area of English will be added. A goal of the event is to eventually add a STEM robotics competition to the event. Students take part in an academically intensive week-long spring-break camp to prepare for the event. Number of student participants as well as number of grade levels represented both doubled from 2011 to 2012. Those numbers are expected to triple for the 2013 event.
